Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska travels to the Russian Federation festival “The Forgotten Story” in Kazan

The play The Forgotten Story by the Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska, directed by Andrey Boka, has been selected for the official programme of the 6th International Puppet Theatre Festival Shombay Fest, which will be held in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russian Federation, from June 17 to 21.

It should be recalled that after the Government of Republika Srpska and the Government of Tatarstan established bilateral cooperation last year in the fields of economy, sports and culture, the Children’s Theatre already hosted colleagues from Kazan in October 2025, namely the State Academic Theatre “Ekiyat” from Kazan, which participated in the 24th International Children’s Theatre Festival.

The performance The Grey-Necked Duck, presented by colleagues from Kazan, opened our festival and delighted the audience, which together gave rise to friendship and opened the path for cooperation between Banja Luka and Kazan.

This was followed by an invitation for the Children’s Theatre to participate in Shombay Fest in Kazan, with the performance scheduled as part of the festival programme on June 18.

What further confirms the excellence of The Forgotten Story is the request from the festival organizers for the performance to be staged twice, so that as many children as possible could see it.

As this reaction from the Festival Directorate came after they had watched a recording of the performance, the Children’s Theatre made an additional creative effort and translated The Forgotten Story into Russian, so that through this surprise for Russian children, the encounter of two languages and two cultures could be presented in the most noble way.

The cast includes Božana Bijelić, Nikola Milaković, Zorana Šuman and Aleksandar Runjić.

The demanding organization of the entire trip, which involved a series of delicate technical details and artistic preparations, was successfully carried out thanks to the support of the Office of the President of Republika Srpska, which particularly highlights the importance of the international cooperation of Republika Srpska in the field of art and culture.
