The Russian Federation continues to advocate for strict respect of the Dayton Peace Agreement and firmly opposes foreign interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. This was clearly emphasized by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the delegation of Republika Srpska in the Kremlin.
Putin stated that Russia remains strongly committed to continuing fruitful cooperation with Republika Srpska, highlighting that relations are based on centuries-old traditions of friendship and spiritual closeness between the two peoples.
Officials from Republika Srpska pointed to what they described as harmful actions by the Office of the High Representative and Christian Schmidt, as well as attempts to undermine the Dayton framework.
President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan emphasized that the partnership with Russia is built on mutual trust, sincere friendship, and equality, without political conditions.
“Russia is a proven reliable partner that consistently supports the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Karan said.
During the meeting, the delegation presented its view of the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in light of what they described as challenges to the Dayton structure.
Milorad Dodik stated that the upcoming session of the United Nations Security Council could reflect a firm Russian position, including discussions on the legality of Schmidt’s role and his decisions.
Nenad Stevandić added that cooperation with Russia has never been pursued at the expense of others, but rather based on mutual relations between Banja Luka and Moscow.
Since 1995 and the signing of the Dayton Agreement, Russia has maintained its position as one of its guarantors, continuing to support the preservation of the constitutional framework and competencies established by the agreement.
