Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović stated that many are competing in speculations about who could be appointed as the next High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Everyone wants to appear as if they are the ones who supposedly ‘know the most’ or are ‘best informed.’ That creates false relevance in a world where every piece of news lasts only a few hours. Why should anyone even be appointed at all, when the OHR system of operation is undemocratic and completely outdated? If it is the guarantee of a country’s existence, as some claim, then that country has very little chance for the future,” Cvijanović wrote on X.
She questioned why anyone should even be appointed to the position, although she believes that it will happen.
“It is enough that there is a deputy who, unlike Christian Schmidt, has not announced his withdrawal and who can oversee the closure of such a monstrous creation, which evolved from a supposedly decent form of international supervision into a dictatorial administration without grounding in either international or domestic law,” Cvijanović stated.
She added that “the whistle marking the beginning of the race has already been heard and many have started running,” while emphasizing that nobody is speaking about the procedures themselves.
“But why would they, when procedures in Bosnia and Herzegovina — and regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina — have always been abused,” Cvijanović concluded.
