The Memorial House of Milica Babić Andrić in Šamac has been nominated for the prestigious international “Živa” Award, one of the most important recognitions in the field of museology and preservation of cultural heritage in Slavic countries.

Acting Director of the Cultural Centre Šamac Milanka Blagojević stated that the nomination represents significant recognition not only for the institution itself, but also for the municipality of Šamac and the cultural heritage of Republika Srpska, which is being preserved and promoted internationally through the museum’s work.

As part of the nomination process, the institution was visited by Neda Knežević, Director of the Museum of Yugoslavia and member of the international jury of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, which presents the award.

“The ‘Živa’ Award is presented to the most successful museums, cultural institutions and projects distinguished by their preservation, presentation and contemporary interpretation of cultural heritage. It was established by the Forum of Slavic Cultures and named after the Slavic goddess Živa, symbolizing life, creativity and cultural identity,” Knežević said.

During the visit, the institution presented its work, permanent museum exhibition, as well as the life and rich artistic legacy of Milica Babić Andrić, one of the most prominent Serb costume designers and the wife of Nobel Prize laureate Ivo Andrić.
