SNSD president Milorad Dodik said today that Republika Srpska will not give consent for the introduction of any sanctions against the Russian Federation and has no intention of becoming a member of NATO, as it follows a policy of military neutrality.
After a meeting between the delegation of Republika Srpska and the Russian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, Dodik said dialogue with Russia is maintained at the highest level and that Republika Srpska is grateful that the Russian Federation has always stood by the Dayton Peace Agreement.
“The positions of the Russian Federation are not partisan, but principled, based on support for international law,” Dodik said.
He added that Republika Srpska understands that Russia’s efforts in the special military operation in Ukraine are justified.
Dodik said the meeting also addressed the issue of property, repeating that the matter is already resolved by the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He stated that talks with representatives of the Russian Federation are always pleasant because, in his words, they are always based on dialogue rather than imposition.
Dodik also said that Bosniaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina hold an incorrect view of Russia, which he described as defending the Dayton Agreement as the foundation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s existence.
“Russia is a guarantor of that agreement. Russia has never encouraged us to undertake unilateral actions contrary to that agreement,” Dodik said.
Representing Republika Srpska at the meeting were Siniša Karan, Prime Minister Savo Minić, National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić, and Dodik.
The Russian delegation also included Yuriy Pilipson and Yegor Skopenko.
