The women’s handball team Borac Banja Luka was defeated at the start of the Bosnia and Herzegovina championship playoffs. A weakened side from Banja Luka lost to Goražde 32-34 at the Centar Sports Hall.
The visitors held a lead of three to five goals for most of the match. The home team, weakened by the absence of four players, refused to surrender.
Midway through the second half, Borac managed to cut the deficit to 24-25 and had a chance to equalize. However, goalkeeper Katarina Ivanović shone in those moments, making key saves to preserve the lead and allowing Goražde to pull away again.
The most efficient player for the winning side was Ivana Đurović with 11 goals, while Ema Kostić added nine.
For Borac, Milana Railić scored 11 goals, while Lara Bijelić contributed seven.
In the next round, Borac will play away against Hadžići.
