U.S. General and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said in Banja Luka that what he described as Islamization and the possible revival of the Ottoman Empire represent grounds for what he called a global battle against such threats.
During the lecture, international and economic policy expert Nemanja Plotan asked how long the intervention in Iran might last, whether there is a possibility of escalation in Iraq or Afghanistan, and whether Europe faces any danger.
“I am a Catholic. I do not see Catholics leaving their churches, going to cafés, and shooting people. This battle is global and has always been global because of what we are facing—Islamization and the re-emergence of the Ottoman Empire. I do not believe there will be a ground invasion of Iran, and President Trump has no such intention. He has clearly stated the objectives,” Flynn said.
He emphasized that U.S. troops would not enter Iran, as that is not the goal.
“There will be no entry of our military into Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump has no intention of doing that. He outlined clear objectives—destroying missile systems in that country, targeting naval capabilities, and ensuring that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons,” Flynn added.
Flynn concluded that it is impossible to predict when the conflict in the Middle East will end.
