Security expert Dževad Galijašević expressed support for the decision by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to classify branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan as terrorist organizations.
“This is very good news. Trump made a principled and sound decision and sent a very important message to the Muslim Brotherhood. They are already on blacklists in the EU and the United States,” Galijašević said while appearing on the Morning Program.
He added that former President Biden made compromises with the Muslim Brotherhood.
“Biden made compromises, and this is an important message to the Muslim Brotherhood: we are not counting on you,” Galijašević said, noting that the organization has been active for around 100 years.
He stated that Bosnian Muslims have been connected with the Muslim Brotherhood since World War II.
“They are present in Bosnia and Herzegovina through around 100 non-governmental organizations, and they have also established fake humanitarian organizations,” Galijašević said.
He added that the organization operates in about 70 countries.
“In that sense, it is important that measures are taken here as well against individuals connected to these branches of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Galijašević said.
He stressed that the Muslim Brotherhood is a global terrorist organization, recalling that it has been active in Bosnia and Herzegovina since before World War II.
“It operated during World War II with Alija Izetbegović and other cadres. When we talk about the Muslim Brotherhood, we are talking about the formation of all military formations and terrorist organizations,” Galijašević said.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, he added, the Muslim Brotherhood has its own active organizations, primarily the “Young Muslims.”
Galijašević believes that sooner or later the United States will realize that the network in Bosnia and Herzegovina is global, noting that the European Union has also placed the Muslim Brotherhood on its list of terrorist organizations.
“The United States will sooner or later understand that the Muslim Brotherhood has its strongest foothold in Europe precisely in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Europe has placed this organization on the list of terrorist organizations, but has never taken any concrete measures against it,” Galijašević said.
U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced that he had signed a decision launching the process for his administration to officially designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
