Federal media outlets have in recent days continuously spread misinformation and spun various narratives that do not contribute to coexistence. However, this time they have taken it a step further. During a live appearance on the Sarajevo-based portal Klix, Dževad Mahmutović, a delegate in the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska, openly stated that the police of Republika Srpska should be shot at.
When the host asked what should be done if the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska attempted to prevent the arrest of President Milorad Dodik, Mahmutović responded without hesitation:
“Shoot! Shoot at each other. The task must be completed. There’s no ‘I will’ or ‘I won’t.’”
This shocking statement, which calls for armed conflict and violence against the police of Republika Srpska, has sparked widespread outrage.
The question now being raised is whether the unconstitutional Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina—under the influence of foreign actors and Bosniak political structures—will take action in response to such dangerous rhetoric.
Calls to violence from political officials, especially those directed at law enforcement institutions of an entity, represent a serious threat to peace and stability and are widely considered criminal acts in democratic societies. Whether legal proceedings will follow remains to be seen.
