Magyar: It is not right for the West to treat Srpska and its president as an enemy

“We are here today in Banja Luka to show and demonstrate our support for the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who is facing a political witch hunt. We also want to express our solidarity with all citizens of Srpska, as well as the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, because the West still treats BiH as its province, where it can do whatever it wants,” stated Levente Magyar, deputy minister of foreign affairs and trade of Hungary, at a press conference following his meeting with the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

Mađar emphasized the importance of reading history books and recalling how Bosnia and Herzegovina has fared when foreign powers attempted to impose their interests.

“The West always makes decisions about Eastern Europe without any real knowledge or understanding of history. What the West is doing to the Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not right. They cannot treat this country as an enemy or treat Srpska and Dodik as adversaries. The Serb people are a proud people and should not have to endure this. Our relations are such that we truly support you, just as Serbia supports you,” Mađar stressed.

He reiterated that the official policy of Budapest is one of understanding, as the way the West treats Bosnia and Herzegovina is unacceptable.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country that has suffered greatly in the past,” Mađar stated.

“We are witnessing how the West supports the brutal conflict in Ukraine, as well as how it encourages and fosters certain political directions in the Western Balkans that could once again lead to war-like events. This is a sovereign country, not a province,” Mađar concluded.
