Kojić: Departure of OHR and constitutional court reform are key issues on BiH’s EU path

The departure of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) and reform of the Constitutional Court are fundamental issues on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) path to European integration, stated Milorad Kojić, an SNSD representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, during his appearance on the RTRS Morning Program.

An urgent session of the House of Representatives is scheduled for tomorrow, with key EU priorities on the agenda, including proposals for laws on border control and personal data protection in BiH.

“The first and fundamental question, directed at the EU, the European Commission, and everyone involved in integration, is whether BiH, as a kind of protectorate with an illegitimately appointed high representative, can become an EU member. That is the key issue. Has any EU member state or candidate ever had a similar status? No such country exists. If we receive written confirmation from Brussels that BiH can join the EU with the high representative and the OHR, then Sarajevo would be justified in claiming we are blocking the European path,” Kojić stated firmly.

He highlighted the Constitutional Court of BiH’s history of discriminatory decisions against its citizens.

“The Constitutional Court rules on whether someone over 65 years old can continue working. They cannot because it discriminates against everyone else. The law clearly states that at 65, one must retire,” Kojić emphasized.

According to Kojić, Bosniak political parties, especially those from the “Troika,” are adamant about passing certain laws.

“They want to embrace their EU mentors and claim credit for progress. As Elvedin Konaković says: ‘Let’s adopt EU laws now, and then, five days before BiH joins the EU, we’ll decide that the OHR is no longer needed.’ That’s like children playing, completely unserious about matters requiring the utmost seriousness,” Kojić added.
