The Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) “Saint Sava” from Zvornik marked its 20th anniversary with an annual concert titled “Zvornik, My City” last tonight.
The president of KUD “Saint Sava,” Dragan Golić, told reporters that all sections of the KUD, from the folklore school and children’s ensemble to the performing ensemble, presented themselves to the Zvornik audience with dances and songs from Republika Srpska and Serbia.
Golić recalled that KUD “Saint Sava” was founded on April 24, 2004, and added that this society operated as a folklore section of the “Saint Sava” Elementary School for a full 10 years before officially becoming a KUD.
- Over the past 30 years, first as a school section of the “Saint Sava” Elementary School and then for 20 years as a KUD, more than 4,000 members have passed through KUD “Sint Sava,” with around 200 concerts held, including performances throughout Republika Srpska, Serbia, and the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Golić said.
He reminded that KUD “Saint Sava” traditionally holds the “Vidovdan Gathering” in Zvornik, where cultural and artistic societies from most former Yugoslav countries participate.
The celebration of this jubilee was also attended by the Mayor of Zvornik, Bojan Ivanović.
After the concert, the society’s management awarded certificates of appreciation to individuals and institutions that have contributed to the development of the society.
In 2006, the Holy Synod of the Serb Orthodox Church awarded this KUD the Order of Saint Sava, Third Class, for its contribution to the development and nurturing of Serbian culture and tradition.
