Tourist visits to Bijeljina have been increasing for the fourth consecutive year, accompanied by investments in attractions such as the planned construction of an adventure park and the “Semberija House” featuring traditional local products in 2025, said Dragan Tešić, spokesperson for the city’s Tourist Organization.
Tešić stated that the opening of the “Semberija House” is awaiting an attractive location in the city, while the adventure park is planned for the Obriježi area, with the conceptual design currently being developed.
- The number of overnight stays in the first 10 months of last year increased by 1,800 guests compared to the previous year, and we expect the total to have exceeded 90,000 annually. The average duration of guest stays in Bijeljina has also increased, from two to 2.4 days per person – Tešić noted.
According to him, the implementation of the new tourism law in Republika Srpska will ease the burden on service providers, and an increase in revenue from the tourist tax is expected. The tax is planned to rise from two to three convertible marks (KM) per night.
- If the average cost of full board in Bijeljina is 120 KM, an additional three KM will not be a significant burden – Tešić assessed.
He added that the annual tourism revenue in Bijeljina was around 130,000 KM, but with the planned increase in the tourist tax by one mark, it is expected to reach approximately 200,000 KM. This increase would enable greater investments in tourism development in Semberija.
Tešić highlighted that Bijeljina’s leading tourist attractions include the Ethno Village Stanišići, followed by the Dvorovi Spa, as well as a strong presence of religious tourism.
- In addition to the official statistics of 90,000 overnight stays, this region also has a highly developed shopping tourism sector. It is unofficially estimated that nearly one million tourists visit Semberija annually for day trips – said the spokesperson for the Tourist Organization.
