Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Banja Luka, Vlade Simović, stated that the trial of the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina represents an attack on the institution of the President and that the very location of the trial—where there was a detention camp for Serbs during the last war—clearly indicates the intentions of foreigners and Sarajevo authorities.
- “The fact that the Court of BiH is located on a site where numerous crimes against Serbs were committed shows that this is something absolutely contrary to any rational and peaceful politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For me, this is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable. It is one of the indicators that those who designed this process never intended peace and well-being for BiH,” said Simović.
He emphasized that achieving consensus on any political issue in Bosnia and Herzegovina is difficult, but any pressure against Serbs is counterproductive because the Serbian people tend to function best when under attack and political pressure.
“Any political agenda aimed at framing Republika Srpska into molds defined by others is utterly meaningless as it only generates resistance,” Simović noted.
He highlighted the visible determination of Serbs to preserve Republika Srpska, as demonstrated during the Defensive-Patriotic War.
- “This is the only place in the world where you can see the phenomenon of sacrifice by Sarajevo Serbs, who gave up their city and comfort for the idea of their republic,” stressed Simović.
Simović also discussed why the European Union’s policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina is hypocritical and why Serbs deserve greater respect in Europe.
