The National Theatre of Republika Srpska has marked another successful calendar year, the cultural institution announced.
“A large number of events defined this year, as evidenced by the fact that 216 programs were performed both on the main stage and during tours, attracting an audience of 40,800 spectators. Four premieres were staged—three on the Main Stage and one on the ‘Petar Kočić’ Stage,” the theatre stated.
They added that 148 performances were held on the home stage, 21 ensembles were hosted, and their productions were performed 35 times as guests in theaters across the region.
“We returned from tours with 11 awards and countless rounds of applause. Additionally, three festivals were organized, along with school programs and visits as part of the ‘Open Doors’ initiative. The ‘Theatre for All’ campaign was successfully implemented, featuring performances for blind and visually impaired audiences, individuals with hearing impairments, and persons with disabilities. This year, we also celebrated two anniversaries—our play ‘Truth Doesn’t Hurt’ was performed for the 50th time, and we marked the 10th anniversary of the premiere of the play ‘Garsonjera,’” the National Theatre highlighted.
Furthermore, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre performed 10 concerts on the main stage and established successful collaborations with the Mostar Symphony Orchestra and the Italian association “Insieme.”
“Notable performances included the ‘Welcome’ concert in Novi Sad with Marko Louis and the band ‘Sopot,’ as well as concerts at the Kastel Fortress and the enchanting ‘Symphony for Two’ featuring Jelena Tomašević and Ivan Bosiljčić. Thank you, dear audience, for every moment you shared with us this year and for all those we will share in the year to come,” the statement concluded.
