Šulić: Doors wide open for Srpska in Russia

Last week, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Denis Šulić, attended the conference “The Role of Creative Industries in the Socio-Economic Development of Tourist Territories” in Russia.

“It’s a great honor for Republika Srpska to be invited to an international conference organized under UNESCO’s auspices in Saint Petersburg,” Šulić stated. “Last year, I participated online, but this year I was present in person, contributing to two panels, where we shared experiences on tourism promotion and presented Republika Srpska’s tourism offer, hoping to attract our Russian friends to visit in greater numbers.”

Šulić emphasized the high level of cooperation between Srpska and Russia. “One concrete plan is to come back to Saint Petersburg in May next year with tourism organizations and agencies from Srpska to present Republika Srpska more broadly. Following that, we hope Saint Petersburg agencies will visit us in Srpska. Additionally, we aim to leverage the well-connected Belgrade Airport to facilitate Russian tourists’ visits to Republika Srpska.”

Šulić noted the similarities between Srpska and Russia in many respects. Thanks to President Dodik, he explained, the doors in Russia are wide open for Srpska. “Our historical and cultural heritage is closely aligned with Russia’s, which is an asset we can build on. Russia is a developed and modern country, blending tradition and innovation. You have stunning historical structures alongside modern landmarks like the Gazprom Tower. They protect their heritage while fully embracing 21st-century technologies,” said Šulić.

He added, “All this progress in tourism relations is possible thanks to the policies of President Dodik and the strong ties between him and President Putin. It makes establishing partnerships much easier. Many people approached me to introduce themselves and express support when they learned I was from Republika Srpska. Everyone knows President Dodik and our stance, which served as a valuable entry point for establishing new contacts.”
