The drones recently showcased at the Zenica Economic Fair (ZEPS), presented as a product of the Center for Technical Technological Testing Sarajevo, were actually imported from China and have no connection to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The public in BiH welcomed the news of domestic serial production of drones with general approval and enthusiasm. However, the expert community was skeptical about the development program from the beginning. The drone presented, which was claimed to be produced in BiH, changes everything regarding the claims made to the public. Specifically, the fixed-wing drone presented by the Center for Technical Technological Testing Sarajevo as the “Tayan-1” is actually a Chinese drone purchased from the company Hong Kong Jinzhuo Industry Limited.
The drone displayed at ZEPS as “Tayan-1” is, in fact, part of the Loong family of drones from a Chinese company.
After the portal Kliks contacted the company, they confirmed that it was indeed that type of drone. Additionally, the company offered to sell the same drone to them, demonstrating the ease of acquiring this type of drone.
The Chinese company manufactures and sells these drones in various versions, from reconnaissance to combat models. In addition to fixed-wing drones, the company also offers multicopters.
Asim Hadžić, the director of the Center for Technical Technological Testing Sarajevo, explained how the error in presenting the drone occurred.
“The drones (two) were purchased in Turkey and brought to BiH, where they were assembled. They were meant to demonstrate that we will soon start producing drones ourselves,” Hadžić explained.
Further confirming that these are drones from a Chinese company are the descriptions given by Minister Helez, who repeatedly mentioned “platforms for grenades.”
The company that manufactures and sells Loong drones offers equipment for carrying and releasing mortar shells, exactly the kind mentioned by Minister Helez.
Portal Kliks attempted several times to contact the Minister of Defense of BiH, Zukan Helez, but he did not respond to messages or calls. What is certain is that these drones have been in serial production for a long time, but in the People’s Republic of China.
Helez never presented to the public where the drones he announced long ago are, where they are produced in BiH, or with which companies and countries export agreements were signed.
Portal Kliks has written numerous times that these claims are unfounded, but Helez continued his narrative in public. Although he promised to take media outlets that he favored to show them the drones, this has yet to happen.
Ognjen Tadić responds on social network X
Following the news that the public was misled and that the drones are actually Chinese, lawyer Ognjen Tadić commented on the social network X.
- “It seems that Chinese drones will master artificial intelligence before Zukan Helez masters natural intelligence,” Tadić stated.
