The positive relations we currently enjoy with Hungary and its official policy are undoubtedly a result of the efforts of His Eminence, Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda, stated President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, who attended the 40th anniversary of Bishop Lukijan’s episcopal service in Budapest.
- “I was invited on behalf of Republika Srpska and our people, and I expressed my gratitude to the esteemed Metropolitan Lukijan for his dedication, both to our people and to the Church,” Dodik told RTRS.
He emphasized that Metropolitan Lukijan is a man who has faced many trials.
- “He served in Pakrac, Romania, and now in Hungary. He understands, in the best possible way, the challenges of defending our national and religious interests in communities and countries that are not our homeland. I highly value his work,” Dodik stated.
According to Dodik, Lukijan is a man truly dedicated to and who loves both Republika Srpska and the Serb people as a whole.
“It was only natural that I should be here tonight,” added Dodik.
The 40th anniversary of Metropolitan Lukijan’s episcopal service was marked by a gala concert titled “In honorem sancti servitii,” under the patronage of the Diocese of Buda and the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
Officials from Republika Srpska and Serbia also attended the concert.
