Every year in mid-October, Kostajnica celebrates the sweet chestnut with cultural, entertainment, and tourism activities dedicated to this local treasure.
“Kestenijada” is a tourist-cultural-economic event held in Kostajnica since 1998. The idea for organizing the event came from the region’s natural wealth of sweet chestnut forests, which are abundant in the area.
The festival lasts for three days and features a variety of activities. This year, “Kestenijada” will take place from October 11 to 13, 2024. During the festival, the aroma of roasted chestnuts fills the streets of Kostajnica as locals roast and share chestnuts with visitors.
In addition to chestnut roasting, the event includes gatherings, music, and dancing. Musicians further enhance the joyful atmosphere with their performances, making the festival a lively and memorable experience for all.
