In Jerusalem, a symposium titled “Conflicts in the Balkans from the Perspective of Republika Srpska” was held, organized by the Representation of Republika Srpska in Israel and the European Forum of the Hebrew University.
Last night, Ambassador Duško Kovačević of BiH to Israel and Professor Noam Šoval, Director of the European Forum, opened the symposium. Panelists included Dr. Yitzhak Brudny and Dr. Matthew Simmons from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and Dr. Nina Sajić from the University of Banja Luka.
Ambassador Kovačević emphasized the close, friendly relations between Republika Srpska and Israel, highlighting the consistent support from President Milorad Dodik of Republika Srpska and Željka Cvijanović, the Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH, particularly following the barbaric terror of Hamas in October 2022.
Eyal Goren, Head of the Representation of Republika Srpska in Israel, spoke about the historical ties between the Serbian and Jewish peoples and their mutual understanding of ongoing hardships.
Dr. Nina Sajić discussed the challenges facing the Balkans and the destabilizing impact of foreign interventionism, particularly through neo-colonial structures such as the OHR.
The symposium attracted participants from academia, media, politics, public life, and culture, as well as students and numerous other visitors.
In 2023, the University of Banja Luka and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem signed a Cooperation Agreement. The Hebrew University, ranked among the top hundred globally, is one of Israel’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning.
