Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations between Serbia and the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, told RTRS that for Serbia and Republika Srpska, unity in these challenging times is crucial, including the unity of Serbs within Srpska and Serbia, as well as those living outside their borders.

“The Drina has never been a river that divides us, but rather the backbone that unites us,” said Milicević.

He added that citizens of Republika Srpska in Serbia cannot feel like they are in the diaspora, and vice versa.

“Serbs should be united wherever they are,” Milicević emphasized.

Milicević stated that in the Serb diaspora, or outside the borders of Serbia and Srpska, unity, togetherness, and concern for national interests are unquestionable.

He highlighted that Serbia respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that none of its officials have stated otherwise, even though they might have had reasons to do so.

Milicević noted that “the resolution on Srebrenica takes us ten years back,” adding that Serbia will fight against the adoption of this document in the UN General Assembly and will seek the adoption of resolutions on the genocide against the Serbian people.
