In Brussels, Radovan Kovačević, a delegate in the Club of Serbs in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, stated that BiH is still under the protectorate of a foreign agent and the Office of the High Representative (OHR) 30 years after the civil war, which does not align with any positive and modern practice of the 21st century.
Speaking at the 71st plenary session of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of the European Parliament, Kovačević mentioned that the OHR represents a blatant destruction of democratic principles and the will of the citizens who have elected their representatives, questioning whether this is consistent with the pillars of EU values or the rule of law.
He also addressed the issue of foreign judges who, in the absence of domestic judges, make decisions about the past, present, and future of BiH citizens on their own.
Kovačević questioned whether this situation is normal for a country that is beginning negotiations with the EU, stating that the future of BiH must belong to its citizens, peoples, and democratically elected representatives.
- Therefore, we need your help once again to become truly sovereign, without any form of foreign protectorate or foreign judges – said Kovačević.
