The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated that issues concerning the constitutional capacity of Republika Srpska require a broader consensus within Republika Srpska.

“Such issues are always a matter of broader consensus, not just of the ruling or opposition parties,” said Stevandić in the parliament during his final remarks on the Proposed Work Program of the National Assembly for this year.

Stevandić mentioned that an amendment from the parliamentary majority clubs related to gender identity was accepted because it reflects a relevant majority in the parliament.

Discussing the Law on Conflict of Interest that was adopted in the BiH parliament, Stevandić noted the need to distinguish between national and moral laws.

“The Law on Conflict of Interest is a moral law; there’s no national issue related to it. Talking about some kind of outvoting is not a vital national issue because vital national issues pertain to property and courts,” Stevandić clarified.
