The President of the People’s Party of Republika Srpska, Darko Banjac, believes that the recent behavior of representatives from the Federation of BiH shows that they are politically buried by the actions of certain embassies. He emphasizes that as long as Western ambassadors interfere, there will be no possible agreement within the state community of BiH.
Banjac told SRNA that politicians from the Federation of BiH, even after reaching agreements and submitting reports, shape their policies based on the opinions of individual embassies.
“They essentially have no policies of their own. They don’t listen to their people, but to individual embassies. And even if they wanted to come to an agreement, and even if the agreement made sense, they essentially cannot do that because of the influence of foreign embassies,” Banjac emphasized.
He said that Western ambassadors and foreigners, in general, should not meddle in internal affairs because they undermine internal agreements, such as the recent one in Laktaši.
“As long as such interference exists, there will be no agreement within the state community of BiH,” Banjac concluded.
James O’Brian, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, stated during a recent visit to BiH that the US has the right to express its opinion on the adequacy or inadequacy of a political proposal in BiH.
O’Brian made this statement in response to journalists’ questions about the US Ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy’s, refusal to accept the agreement reached in Laktaši among the leaders of the SNSD, HDZ BiH, and the “troika” parties, which form the government at the BiH level.
In one of his earlier statements, former Canadian Ambassador to Yugoslavia James Bissett mentioned that the US government started the war in BiH by persuading the Muslim leader Alija Izetbegović to unilaterally declare the independence of BiH after representatives of all three nations had reached an agreement.
