The Office for International Cooperation of Republika Srpska has extended its sincere congratulations to the United States following the recent elections.
American democratic tradition, the strength of its institutions and its political culture deserve our full respect, as does the important role the United States plays in international relations, said Ana Trišić Babić, Director of the Office for International Cooperation of Republika Srpska.
She emphasized that cooperation with the United States represents a clear and long-term strategic commitment for Republika Srpska.
“We approach these relations with respect for the American state, but also with confidence in the opportunities created by renewed political communication with Washington. We recognize their importance in our shared interests, responsibility for regional stability and economic opportunities that we wish to develop,” Trišić Babić stated.
Democratic legitimacy and diplomatic continuity
Trišić Babić added that democratic elections carry full political and institutional significance.
“At the same time, international cooperation requires continuity of interests and a responsibility to continue strengthening the trust that has been established through concrete action. It is precisely in the connection between democratic legitimacy and diplomatic consistency that we recognize the strength of American institutions and the value of relations with the United States,” she emphasized.
While certain political actors in the region view American elections almost as partisan supporters, Trišić Babić noted, Republika Srpska approaches the United States with respect and a clear intention to further develop cooperation.
“We focus our attention on Washington as an important political partner and on the opportunities that arise through mutual understanding and shared interests,” she said.
Gratitude to Trump for revitalizing relations
Trišić Babić expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for revitalizing relations between Republika Srpska and the United States.
“We particularly appreciate the renewed political dialogue with Washington and the fact that Republika Srpska has once again gained a place on the international stage, where its voice can be heard and its positions and interests taken into account in discussions with American partners.
“We remain firmly committed to continuing cooperation with US President Donald Trump and his administration, confident in what we have achieved so far and with even greater expectations for what we can accomplish together in the future,” Trišić Babić stated.
Support for diplomatic efforts toward international de-escalation
She added that Republika Srpska is following diplomatic efforts aimed at international de-escalation with hope and great optimism, including contacts and agreements between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We believe that responsible diplomacy can contribute to reducing tensions, strengthening energy security and ensuring economic stability, which is particularly important amid global economic disruptions,” Trišić Babić said.
Dayton Agreement and constitutional position remain fundamental
The Dayton Peace Agreement, the constitutional position of Republika Srpska and its competencies remain the foundation of its political activities, Trišić Babić emphasized.
“Republika Srpska has already demonstrated its capabilities and responsibility through democratic elections, political pluralism, the continuity of its institutions and the preservation of stability.
“Three decades after Dayton, we are convinced that the time has come for political leaders to assume full responsibility for the future of BiH, with a clear prospect of ending international political supervision exercised through the Office of the High Representative (OHR).
“We also see the importance of continued cooperation with the United States in this process, particularly appreciating its historic role in establishing peace and preserving stability,” she stated.
Turning political opportunities into concrete results
Trišić Babić said Republika Srpska’s intention remains clear: to continue cooperation with Washington, responsibly represent the interests of Republika Srpska and turn emerging political opportunities into tangible results.
“We believe in the value of our relations, which are developing through mutual respect and a clear understanding of what we can achieve through joint action,” Trišić Babić concluded.
