Luka Mišković from Doboj has taken first place at the World Powerlifting Championship in Poland, which brought together around 700 competitors from 40 countries.
Competing in the under-90-kilogram junior category for lifters up to 19 years of age, he secured the title with a 240-kilogram deadlift.
Mišković is a member of Doboj’s “Prva Gradska Teretana” weightlifting club. Club representative Aleksa Mirčetić said the championship in Poland was organized by the Global Powerlifting Committee.
Mirčetić said the win is a major recognition for the young Doboj athlete, who showed strength, dedication and quality on the international stage.
“Winning a world gold takes far more than just stepping onto the competition platform. Behind every successful lift are months of hard training, sacrifice, discipline and carefully planned preparation,” Mirčetić said.
The achievement is all the more valuable because Mišković won the title in the junior category, proving that athletes from smaller communities can compete on equal terms for the highest honors on the international stage.
The competition was held on Friday, October 23.
