The dystopian science-fiction tragicomedy Experiment: Civilization, written and directed by Marko Dukić, will be performed in Banja Luka on October 26 at 7:00 PM as part of the 18th International Actors’ Festival, Zaplet 18. The production, created by Nevid Theatre and Studio Spotless, explores the conflict between individual freedom and a system built on control, fear and manipulation.
The performance is included in the festival’s special program, Zaplet 100’s, dedicated to outstanding theatrical productions created in Banja Luka over the past year.
A dystopian exploration of power, control and human identity
Experiment: Civilization tells the story of two surviving humanoid beings subjected to controlled simulations of human society conducted by a Doctor and a Nurse.
Through fear, obedience, violence and manipulation, the system attempts to transform them into the founders of a new civilization.
Combining science fiction, physical theatre and a powerful audiovisual narrative, the production examines individual behavior within a simulated social system where pressure, control and ideology become instruments for shaping consciousness.
With its minimalist visual language, dystopian aesthetics and carefully controlled stage atmosphere, the performance raises questions about power, freedom and fear.
It also explores the limits individuals are willing to accept in their struggle to preserve their identities within an oppressive system.
