Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has emphasized that Serbs continue to face an important struggle to preserve their national and cultural identity, stressing the need for unity, strong institutions and the preservation of traditions among Serb communities around the world.
Speaking at the Days of Serb Culture in Hungary event, held at the headquarters of the Republika Srpska Government in Banja Luka, Minić said Republika Srpska must remain economically strong, institutionally stable and internationally recognized.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska should demonstrate through its activities a continued commitment to the interests and future of its people.
Minić emphasizes unity and the role of the Serb Orthodox Church
Minić stated that, in his view, the Serb people have never stood on the wrong side of history or inflicted harm on others, emphasizing the importance of maintaining unity wherever Serbs live.
“The Serb Orthodox Church is what connects us most strongly, in every sense of the word,” Minić said.
The prime minister noted that Serbs living throughout the world, including the many communities scattered across different countries, play an important role in preserving and representing their national identity.
He also reflected on the challenges facing contemporary European societies, contrasting communities that maintain their religious and cultural traditions with the effects of migration across Europe.
Minić described migration as a phenomenon that has raised security concerns and brought significant social changes, characterizing it as a form of transformation affecting European societies.
Preserving cultural heritage for future generations
The prime minister stressed the importance of passing historical and cultural knowledge on to younger generations, particularly regarding the heritage of Serbs living in Hungary.
“We must find even more time to teach young people about the Serb Orthodox Monastery of Grabovac, one of the oldest Serb religious sites in Hungary,” Minić concluded.
