France is entering a period of crucial political decisions that will shape its future and raise fundamental questions about the relationship between national sovereignty, the democratic will of citizens and European institutions, Milorad Dodik has said.
Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, France is facing profound political and social challenges, economic pressures, declining public trust in institutions and serious concerns about public security, according to Dodik.
He emphasized that the violence witnessed on French streets in recent days deserves unequivocal condemnation.
“The right to peaceful protest is a cornerstone of democracy, but arson, looting, hooliganism, destruction of property and attacks on police officers are not political protest. They are violence. The responsibility of the media is to call such actions by their proper names. Those responsible are violent offenders and hooligans, not protesters,” Dodik wrote.
Dodik highlights Marine Le Pen’s positions on sovereignty and security
Dodik argued that the issues raised for years by French politician Marine Le Pen have become increasingly relevant under the current circumstances.
“National sovereignty, the right of peoples to democratically decide their own future, citizens’ security, the authority of domestic institutions and government accountability are issues that occupy a central place in her political activities,” he said.
According to Dodik, the debate about Europe’s future cannot be reduced solely to economic matters or the distribution of powers between Brussels and individual European states.
“It is also a debate about the cultural and historical identity of European peoples, the place of our Christian heritage in European civilization and the right of peoples to preserve their traditions,” he stated.
“I reject the vision of Europe in which national identity, Christian heritage and the right of peoples to decide their own future are regarded as obstacles to development. I oppose globalist political concepts that advocate the increasing centralization of power and the suppression of national distinctiveness,” Dodik added.
He emphasized that Europe owes its historical strength precisely to the diversity of its peoples, cultures and traditions.
Shared political positions on the future of Europe
Dodik noted that Marine Le Pen advocates a Europe of sovereign nations, stronger control of national borders, restrictions on illegal migration and the preservation of national identities.
“Her opposition to further centralization of the European Union, her insistence on the autonomy of nations in shaping their own policies, and her support for different migration and security policies are points of convergence with my publicly expressed sovereigntist positions,” Dodik said.
He explained that these positions reflect what he considers a shared political framework.
“In these matters, I recognize a common political framework: the protection of national identity, autonomy, the preservation of political competencies and opposition to transferring key decisions to distant international centers of power, or to any centers of power that have not been elected by the people,” he stated.
Dodik wishes Le Pen success in the 2027 presidential race
Dodik also highlighted the longstanding historical friendship between the Serb and French peoples, describing it as a relationship that deserves an important place in Europe’s future and transcends temporary international circumstances.
“I share Marine Le Pen’s conviction that Europe’s future should be built on respect for national sovereignty, the preservation of the identity and cultural heritage of European peoples, citizens’ security and the right of nations to independently decide on the key issues shaping their future,” Dodik said.
He added that Le Pen’s vision of a Europe of sovereign nations reflects political principles he also supports.
“In her commitment to a Europe of sovereign nations, I recognize the political principles that I myself advocate. On these foundations, I wish to continue developing dialogue, mutual understanding and friendly relations,” he stated.
“I extend my sincere wishes to Marine Le Pen for success in the upcoming presidential race, and I wish the French people peace, security and the freedom to democratically decide the future of their country,” Dodik concluded.
