Mornar Bar are preparing for their return to ABA League action with an opening match against Borac Banja Luka, whose youthful energy and competitive rhythm have drawn praise from the Montenegrin team’s coach and players.
Mornar head coach Mihailo Pavićević spoke respectfully about the upcoming opponents, emphasizing that Borac’s young squad could pose a serious challenge.
“The delayed start worked in our favor because we also began our preparations late. During that time, we managed to play several friendly matches,” Pavićević said.
“Borac are a young, energetic team. Their advantage is that they have already played three rounds of their domestic championship and are in competitive rhythm. I hope my team performs as it did during the preseason matches. If we do that, we can hope for a victory at the start of the new season,” he added.
Vranješ: Stopping Borac’s transition game will be crucial
Experienced scorer Nemanja Vranješ, who previously played for Borac Banja Luka, also expressed confidence ahead of the season opener.
He emphasized that Mornar had carefully analyzed their opponents and identified their fast-paced attacking style as one of their main strengths.
“We have analyzed Borac. They are a young team that plays fast and scores many points in transition. Our main task will be to neutralize their transition game through strong defense,” Vranješ explained.
“If we play the way we did during the preparation period, we have a chance to win,” he concluded.
