Children’s theatre festival in Banja Luka presents performances from Hungary and North Macedonia

Two international productions exploring friendship, courage and hope will be performed on Monday, October 19, as part of the International Children’s Theatre Festival at the Republika Srpska Children’s Theatre in Banja Luka.

Audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy The Dream of Fairy Mol, presented by the Harlequin Puppet Theatre from Eger, Hungary, and Sadako Wants to Live, performed by the Theatre for Children and Youth from Skopje, North Macedonia.

A magical journey of friendship and discovery

The Dream of Fairy Mol is scheduled for 10 a.m. and tells the story of a tiny fairy named Mol who lives in an old, dilapidated attic.

One day, Mol embarks on a journey filled with obstacles and unexpected adventures.

Along the way, she meets a curious little worm named Dur, and together they discover a world full of wonders.

The legend of a thousand paper cranes

At 6 p.m., the festival continues with Sadako Wants to Live, a moving production inspired by the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl from Hiroshima who survived the atomic bombing but later developed leukemia as a result of radiation exposure.

Believing in the Japanese legend that folding one thousand paper cranes would make her wish come true, Sadako tirelessly creates origami cranes in the hope of recovering from her illness.

The performance explores courage, love, hope and a child’s unwavering desire to live.

Through her story, Sadako becomes a symbol of peace, innocent victims of war and the universal dream of a world without conflict.
