Nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts have another reason to visit Zvornik. Members of the Korak Mountaineering and Environmental Society have restored approximately 13 kilometers of hiking trails on Mount Grkinja, making this scenic route more accessible and safer for visitors eager to explore the natural beauty of the region.
Over the past several days, dedicated volunteers have cleared the trail, removed fallen trees and dense vegetation, and refreshed existing trail markings while installing new ones where necessary.
Special attention was given to sections where hikers previously risked straying from the designated route.
The restoration also benefited from the expertise of two Korak members who successfully completed a professional trail-marking training course last year.
Borovnjak viewpoint: A breathtaking panorama
One of the highlights of the hiking route is the Borovnjak viewpoint, which offers spectacular panoramic views of Zvornik Lake and the surrounding landscapes.
The viewpoint is among the area’s most attractive destinations for nature enthusiasts, photographers and visitors seeking an active outdoor getaway.
The trail restoration was also part of preparations for the Republika Srpska hiking event scheduled for October 10 on Mount Grkinja, with participants setting off from the mountain lodge in Liješanj.
The Korak Mountaineering and Environmental Society traditionally brings together around 150 hikers from across the region, with an even larger turnout anticipated for this year’s event.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of its members, Mount Grkinja continues to strengthen its appeal as a destination for hiking, recreation and outdoor activities.
The newly restored trail offers adventure seekers an opportunity to discover the scenic landscapes, peaceful forests and remarkable viewpoints of the Zvornik area.
