Ski Adventure near Sokolac Now Available at Night

At the end of 2024, the Puhovac Ski Resort near Sokolac opened its doors, offering night skiing as a new attraction.

The mayor of the municipality of Sokolac, Strahinja Bašević, expressed satisfaction that, after two years of development, the ski-lift construction project near the urban area of Sokolac was completed at a cost of 350,000 KM.

He emphasized that the project was successfully realized thanks to the Government and Ministry of Finance of Republika Srpska, the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, and the Mayor of East Sarajevo Ljubiša Ćosić, who allocated part of the funds.

  • This is a small-scale project in terms of invested funds compared to larger ski resorts in the region, but it is of great significance for our local community, which aims to develop tourism – Bašević stated.

He pointed out that the facility is particularly important for children and young people who want to learn how to ski.

The Puhovac ski-lift is the only one specifically designed for children, unlike the larger ski centers in the area.

Bašević recalled that the ski-lift was not operational at the end of last year due to a lack of snow, but yesterday it successfully tested both daytime and nighttime skiing, allowing young skiers to enjoy illuminated slopes today and tonight.

  • With favorable weather conditions, holidays, and school breaks, we expect visitors from neighboring municipalities and invite them to come and enjoy winter fun – Bašević said.

The Puhovac ski-lift offers top-quality slopes, including one for night skiing and three for daytime skiing, each approximately 800 meters long. These slopes are well-prepared with a snow grooming machine and night-time freezing temperatures that further enhance their quality.

In addition to the ski-lift, the resort features a support facility, a restaurant and café, as well as a ski rental shop equipped with more than 50 pairs of skis.
