Banja Luka poet Milan Vulić is this year’s recipient of the “Seal of the Town of Sremski Karlovci,” one of the traditional awards recognizing the best poetry books on the Serbian literary scene.
Vulić received the award for his collection Valjda, published this year by the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska. This year’s award was shared equally with poets Kosta Kosovac, Nebojša Stojoski and Tanja Prokopljević.
The decision was made unanimously by the jury of Branko’s Circle in Sremski Karlovci, comprising Nenad Grujičić, Andrej Jelić Mariokov and Jelena Aleksić.
Four Poetry Books
Kosta Kosovac was awarded for his book Šestar za oreol, published last year by Šumatra from Šabac.
Nebojša Stojoski, born in Belgrade in 1981, received the award for his ninth poetry collection, Novi kodeks, published in 2025 by the Belgrade Literary Society.
The fourth equal recipient is Tanja Prokopljević from Zemun, born in 1971, who received the “Seal of the Town of Sremski Karlovci” for her twelfth poetry collection, Muzika najmoćnijeg leta, published in 2025 by ASoglas from Zvornik.
Books by Dejan Bogojević, Valentina Novković, Momčilo Bakrač, Marija Stojić, Nataša Radosavljević and Sekula Šarić were also shortlisted for this year’s award.
An Award with a Long Tradition
The “Seal of the Town of Sremski Karlovci” has a long tradition. Established in 1967, it ranks among the longest-running literary awards presented to poets within the Serbian linguistic and cultural sphere.
This year’s laureates will be formally announced and presented with their awards in Sremski Karlovci during the “Spring Branko Days” in 2027, when the award will be presented for the 60th time.
