Hundreds of hikers search for Lisine’s forest treasures

Balkana and the slopes of Mount Lisina near Mrkonjić Grad have once again demonstrated the area’s potential for nature lovers, hikers and mushroom enthusiasts. The “Balkana Mushroom Days” event, organized by the Vidik Mountaineering and Environmental Association from Mrkonjić Grad, brought together hundreds of hikers, mushroom enthusiasts and nature lovers.

During the event, participants explored mushroom habitats on the slopes of Lisina, while two circular hiking trails of different difficulty levels were organized, allowing those less accustomed to demanding mountain hikes to take part as well.

Pleasant weather, beautiful natural surroundings and an abundance of mushrooms contributed to an excellent atmosphere at this year’s gathering.

Mushrooms from nature straight to the exhibition

After the hike, participants continued socializing at Rasadnik, near Balkana, where an exhibition featuring mushrooms found in the area was organized.

Particular attention was drawn by a lecture given by Rade Gašić, an experienced mushroom expert, who spoke to visitors about identifying and distinguishing different mushroom species, as well as their importance.

The presence of representatives of mushroom associations from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia showed that “Balkana Mushroom Days” has grown beyond its local character. Guests from across the region visited the exhibition, with some also taking part in preparing it.

There were enough mushrooms this year not only for a rich exhibition, but also for something many participants especially look forward to – the traditional mushroom soup.

Balkana and Lisina – a destination for nature lovers

Hundreds of participants enjoyed hiking along the slopes of Lisina, spending time together and taking part in a program that combined hiking, mushroom hunting, education and outdoor activities.

“Balkana Mushroom Days” once again demonstrated that the Mrkonjić Grad area, with Balkana and Lisina, can offer much more than a conventional excursion – an authentic experience of nature, local flavors and gatherings that bring together nature lovers from across the region.
