The Sava Vladislavić male traditional singing group from Gacko won first place at the Festival of Traditional Serbian Song in Prilike near Ivanjica.
The Municipality of Gacko said that Sava Vladislavić was named the best among 39 groups competing in the men’s category, with participants coming from various parts of Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro, BiH and Krajina.
A total of 57 singing groups performed at the 23rd Festival of Traditional Serbian Song held in Prilike.
The group from Gacko performed the song “Oj, gatačko polje rosno,” which embodies the distinctive spirit and melody of the Gacko region. Through their performance, they showcased the strength and beauty of traditional singing.
The group has once again demonstrated that Gacko’s traditional song, as well as the traditions and cultural heritage of Herzegovina, have dedicated guardians committed to their preservation.
The performances were evaluated by an expert jury consisting of Mirjana Zakić, Sanja Radinović and Sanja Ranković, professors from the Department of Ethnomusicology at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
The success of the Sava Vladislavić group is significant not only as a festival award but also as recognition of efforts to preserve the traditional Gacko ganga, traditional song and folk heritage.
