Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said he expects much better cooperation with the new US ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, arguing that the new American administration has adopted a more realistic approach toward the political situation in the country.
“We are not in America’s good graces; America has simply become realistic. However, I will not rule out that we are working on getting into its good graces,” Minić said in Teslić.
According to Minić, US policy toward Republika Srpska changed following the return of President Donald Trump to the White House.
He pointed to the lifting of sanctions and the establishment of projects that he said would soon be implemented by American companies as examples of this change.
Minić said he also expects these developments to help unblock certain major capital projects in Republika Srpska.
He noted that Republika Srpska has had an opportunity to present the suffering of Serb victims and its perspective on the events of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United States.
“That, again, is simply reality. We are not the ‘bad guys,’ we are not a ‘genocidal people,’ and we are not people who committed evil. Above all, we were certainly not the only ones,” Minić said.
