The 26th International Zelenkovac Jazz Festival opened this evening in Zelenkovac near Mrkonjić Grad, bringing together 11 bands from the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Republika Srpska for four days of concerts in a unique natural setting.
The opening night features Trio PRIM from Austria and Bregove dere from Slovenia.
Mrkonjić Grad Mayor Dragan Vođević, who officially opened the festival, said the event is extremely important not only for the local community, but also for Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
Festival organizer Boro Janković said the event has grown beyond all boundaries and developed into a major cultural event, adding that Zelenkovac has created a jazz stage unlike any other.
Tomorrow’s program will feature the Milan Petković Trio from Serbia, the Sandra Halužan Quartet from Croatia and the Gentry Sultan Quintet from Hungary.
On the final festival evening, Saturday, August 8, audiences will have an opportunity to hear Eyot from Serbia, Počeni Škafi from Slovenia and Rijkslinger from the Netherlands.
The festival is supported by the embassies of the Netherlands and Austria, as well as the Austrian Cultural Center.
The 26th International Zelenkovac Jazz Festival is organized by the Zelenkovac Ecological Movement, with the Municipality of Mrkonjić Grad serving as patron.
