Selak: Attack on Serb family in Lušci Palanka is an alarm; we have called on Una-Sana Canton authorities to act

Republika Srpska Minister of Justice Goran Selak said it is deeply troubling that, three decades after the war, Serbs are still being sent the message that they are not welcome in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We witnessed an attack on a Serb family that returned to Lušci Palanka to live and work, where their Bosniak neighbours verbally abused and physically assaulted Mrs. Mika and Mr. Željko. This is a warning signal for all institutions of Republika Srpska and for the Serb people,” Selak said.

He stressed that the institutions of Republika Srpska must continue urging the authorities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to respond.

“We in Republika Srpska have raised our voices. We have called on all the competent institutions, including the Mayor of Sanski Most, the Director and the Minister of the Interior of Una-Sana Canton, as well as the competent prosecutor’s office, to act so that such incidents never happen again. We expect them to undertake all measures prescribed by law in order to protect every individual, especially every Serb living in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Selak said.

He added that Serb cemeteries, churches and religious sites must also be protected.

“The Government has responded, and Prime Minister Savo Minić has already appointed a working group. In any case, we will continue to insist on an official response and will not stop here,” Selak said.
