The promotion of the new book “Valjda” by author Milan Vulić will be held tonight, May 28, starting at 7 p.m. at the Tennis Center of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
This notable literary work has been published by Službeni glasnik Republike Srpske.
A book readers will recognize themselves in
The new publication brings a deep, emotional and sincere story that transcends classic literary boundaries, blending poetry and prose into a cohesive whole.
“There are books that are read. And there are those that are recognized. Milan Vulić’s ‘Valjda’ is exactly such a book — a confession about people, departures, homeland, family, memories and everything that remains within a person even when they believe it has passed. Between tavern smoke, homeland, wartime silences, childhood and lost times, the author brings stories and verses in which many will recognize themselves,” states the official announcement published by Službeni glasnik Republike Srpske.
The book is divided into five thematic cycles titled “The Silk Overcoat of Delija Fialjo,” “Ergo,” “Land,” “Former People,” and “Antiheroes.” The author dedicated this new creative chapter to Milijana, Drenka and Miroslava.
Participants at the promotion
Several distinguished guests from the world of literature and art will speak about Vulić’s latest work. Alongside the author, Milan Milošević — who selected the poetry and prose featured in the book and also wrote the review — will address the audience. Actor Miloš Ćebić will interpret selected verses, giving the event a special artistic dimension.
From “Collection of Mistakes” to literary awards
Before the publication of “Valjda,” Milan Vulić published a poetry collection titled “Collection of Mistakes” in 2017 through the Banja Luka-based publishing house Besjeda.
Between the release of the two books, Vulić also won first prize at the prestigious competition organized by ŠA Fest and the “Ćirilo i Metodije” National Library in Prijedor. He received the award for the short story “Memorial Service,” which is also included in “Valjda.”
A literary voice without forced inspiration
Reviewer Milan Milošević particularly highlighted Vulić’s distinctive creative approach, describing him as an author who refuses to submit to modern trends of mass literary production.
“Aware that the voice of criticism has been lost in a flood of hyperproduction and the harmful trend that ‘everyone should be given a chance,’ Milan Vulić never wanted to force his way into the ‘marina of immortals’ through self-promotion. During twenty years of creative work, he did not appear in every available publication nor expose himself through the media. As someone who does not force inspiration but instead risks waiting for its unexpected visits, Vulić did not produce the expected quantity of ‘poetic material’ over that period. His debut and previously only book, ‘Collection of Mistakes,’ did not establish him as a monumental creator, although we believe its successor certainly will,” Milošević wrote in his review.
