Vulić: I do not want an EU that undermines Republika Srpska and democratic choice

Head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sanja Vulić stated that she does not support joining an EU in which, as she said, her basic right to elect a legitimate representative and the president of Republika Srpska would be taken away.

Vulić argued that there is no example in the world of a country becoming a member of the EU while having a “tutor” such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, referring to the role of international oversight.

Responding to remarks by Mia Karamehić-Abazović, who criticized her knowledge of EU standards, Vulić said that higher income levels in the EU do not necessarily mean a better standard of living.

“You mention higher pensions in the EU, but does that mean a higher standard of living? In Croatia, one respondent said: ‘What does the EU mean to me if my pension is the same,’” Vulić stated.

She emphasized that although the EU has higher pensions, it also comes with a higher cost of living.

“I will not join an EU where I do not have basic human rights, including the right to choose. That is not an EU of democracy, but an EU of subjugation. I will not accept that,” Vulić said.

She also criticized her political opponents for, as she put it, “distorting arguments,” and called for respectful conduct in parliamentary debate.
