Serb member of the Presidency Željka Cvijanović stated that Elmedin Konaković is becoming increasingly nervous as the elections approach, attempting to present himself as an influential political figure.
Cvijanović noted that it is particularly interesting to observe how Konaković is now “returning favors” to those who had, for years, tolerated his political outbursts and mitigated their negative consequences.
After federal media reported that “Konaković lashed out at Christian Schmidt,” Cvijanović assessed that the minister is trying to create the impression that he holds significant authority and influence.
“As the elections draw nearer, he appears increasingly engaged in constructing a parallel reality in which he seeks to convince the public that he is a decisive political actor. At the same time, there is a need to explain to his audience that not only the joint institutions, but also foreign representatives, serve his political agenda,” Cvijanović wrote on X.
According to her, such a display of confidence might appear impressive if it were not rooted in personal frustration and a growing sense of political pressure.
