After a break, Banja Luka Fest returns to Kastel Fortress

After a one-year pause, one of the region’s most recognizable music events, Banja Luka Fest, is set to return to the Kastel Fortress, organizers announced on the festival’s official Instagram and Facebook pages.

What you need to know:

  • Banja Luka Fest returns after a one-year break
  • The festival will once again be held at Kastel Fortress
  • Dates and performers have not yet been announced
  • The announcement has received overwhelmingly positive reactions from the public

Although the exact dates and lineup for this year’s edition have not yet been revealed, the announcement quickly generated enthusiastic responses from audiences, with many calling it one of the city’s strongest modern brands and expressing excitement for summer 2026.

The festival was canceled last year due to delays in adopting the City of Banja Luka’s calendar of tourism events, which made it impossible to complete all necessary preparations on time.

“The cancellation left a bitter impression—not only among organizers and artists, but also among numerous visitors from the country and the region, who had turned Banja Luka into a place of meeting, inspiration, and emotion during the summer months,” organizers said at the time.

Over its four previous editions, Banja Luka Fest hosted a number of renowned international and regional artists at Kastel Fortress, including Stjepan Hauser, Zdravko Čolić with a symphony orchestra, Mariza, Yasmin Levy, Nemanja Radulović, Luz Casal, Bijelo Dugme, and Stefan Milenković, among others.

Organizers noted that the festival was unique in its ability to attract audiences from across the region—Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Slovenia—as well as from major European cities such as Vienna, Berlin, and Paris, with some visitors even traveling from other continents.

They emphasized that the absence of the festival represents not only the loss of a cultural event, but also a missed opportunity to strengthen the city’s image, support the local economy, promote tourism, and present a more open and dynamic image of Banja Luka.

The most recent edition was held in 2024, featuring performances by Stjepan Hauser, Bijelo Dugme, and Jelena Tomašević with Ivan Bosiljčić.
