A fund that changes lives: More than 7,000 persons with disabilities given a chance for employment and dignity

In a society where inclusion often remains just a word, the Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities of Republika Srpska has been changing reality for more than two decades.

More than 7,000 people have been given a chance to work, hundreds of new jobs have been created in both the private and public sectors, and young people and women with disabilities have received concrete opportunities to build careers and develop their own projects.

In 2025 alone, 60 new jobs were created, while more than 900 persons with disabilities are currently employed in the public sector, most of them within the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska.

  • We have become not only a fund that finances their business activities, but also a support service and, in a way, an advisory body – said the Fund’s director, Stevica Dronjak, in an interview.

Over the past four years, the Fund has significantly increased its budget, enabling the development of new programs, including sustainable employment, economic support, and workplace adaptation.

Cooperation with the civil sector and the business community is also at a high level.

Plans for 2026 include increasing the number of beneficiaries and strengthening financial support, especially through programs for young people and women, as well as more active involvement in improving accessibility in institutions and the private sector.

  • I hope that, given the increased allocations across all lines since January 1, 2026, we will see higher employment than in 2025 – Dronjak stated.
