Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been a kind of “powder keg,” but any threats and risks arising from such circumstances should be addressed strictly through institutional mechanisms—firmly and with a clear, composed approach, it was stated at the forum “Security Threats and Dilemmas – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.”
The coordinator, Neđo Vlaški, said the forum was organized in response to the current geopolitical instability.
“The experience we have obliges us, in a time of threats, to analyze all developments taking place,” Vlaški said in Banja Luka ahead of the forum.
He noted that the event was held to mark the Day of the Police of Republika Srpska, with the aim of recalling the difficult period during which members of the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska and security services played a decisive role in the formation of key institutions.
“The gathering is an opportunity to proudly remember those times, when we had the historical chance to participate in events that led to the creation of Republika Srpska, as well as the establishment of its police and army,” Vlaški stated.
He emphasized that the Serb people were forced at the time to organize in order to ensure their survival.
“That struggle, which involved enormous sacrifices, was a fight for survival, existence, and the creation of institutions,” Vlaški concluded.
