Milorad Dodik said he feels like a proud Serb patriot after being praised at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
“I have no words to express how grateful I am. Even before this, from Orbán himself, I could hear, learn, and recognize a lot. A great leader, a leader of a great nation—the Hungarian people—came out and acknowledged all of that in such a way. He also said that many here, if they had gone through what I went through, would have collapsed long ago, or would have hardly endured,” Dodik stated.
He added that he does not recall anyone from the region being praised in such a manner in the past.
“That is something that truly commands respect, but it is not for me to speak about—others will judge and see it in their own way. It means a lot to me. I also thank all my associates. This is a recognition for all my people, collaborators, and everyone who believed in the policy we are pursuing,” Dodik said.
He emphasized that success should be expected in the future as well.
“Our public must understand that this is a gathering organized within American and Hungarian efforts to shape shared values. This is the Hungarian branch of that Trump—meaning Republican—initiative,” Dodik added.
