Derventa marks International Rare Disease Day

Derventa once again joined cities around the world in marking International Rare Disease Day, with the aim of raising awareness about the challenges faced by patients and their families.

On this occasion, users of the Center for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities Budućnost distributed informational leaflets to citizens, seeking to draw public attention to the importance of understanding, support, and inclusion of people living with rare diseases.

The program continued at the National Library Branko Radičević, where an inclusive workshop was held.

Through joint activities, participants sent a message of solidarity and equal opportunities for all.

As a sign of support for people affected by these conditions, representatives of the local authorities joined the walk, led by the mayor of Derventa, Igor Žunić, who, together with his associates, contributed to marking this important date.

International Rare Disease Day is observed on February 29 — symbolically chosen because this date appears rarely in the calendar, just like the diseases that carry the label “rare.”

The goal of the observance is to raise awareness, improve diagnosis and treatment, and provide support for patients and their families.
