Sutjeska moves toward the top

Footballers of Sutjeska Foča recorded an unexpected 1–0 away victory over Zvijezda 09, once again confirming their status as one of the most serious contenders for a place among the top six teams who will continue the competition in the Championship Round.

The only goal of the match was scored by Dario Blagojević in the 33rd minute. The duel at the City Stadium in Ugljevik was marked by a tight, physical contest. Sutjeska capitalized on their best chance, while the hosts failed to find a solution against the visitors’ well-organized defense in the second half.

“It is always difficult to play the first round, especially after the winter break, because you never know how well a team is truly prepared. This is a really big win for Sutjeska, where we showed that no one is a favorite against us. We fought hard for all 90 minutes, and the players showed great determination, desire, and courage. We certainly missed our captain Nikola Mojović, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury, which makes these points even more valuable,” emphasized Sutjeska head coach Darko Vojvodić.

With this victory, the Foča side strengthened its position in the upper part of the table.

“In the next round we host Leotar Trebinje, and with a potential win we would draw level with them on points in third place. I can’t remember when Sutjeska was ranked this high,” Vojvodić added.
