The Žitomislić Museum Foundation organized its fourth annual competition for the best artistic photograph, with this year’s theme titled “Light as a Guide.” Twenty artists presented their works, and an expert jury selected and awarded the top entries.
The award for best photograph went to Dušan Vuković, second place was awarded to Marko Buntić, while Zdravko Terkeš placed third.
The Žitomislić Museum photo competition was established with the aim of encouraging contemporary visual production and fostering dialogue between artists and a space rich in cultural heritage.
“This is our largest competition so far—we received more than 150 photographs from many authors, mostly from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from Serbia and Croatia. Our idea is to expand the exhibition next year from 20 to 30 artists,” said Irina Kolak Mandić.
Through their works, the participating authors offered personal interpretations of light, exploring it as a visual, symbolic, or intimate element that guides perception and the viewer’s gaze.
