The first Constitution of Republika Srpska represented the foundation of statehood, a struggle, and a guarantee for the Serb people to survive in these areas, and it established the status that Srpska has today, said Darko Banjac, president of the National Party of Srpska.
– The Day of Republika Srpska and the adoption of the first Constitution of Srpska are interconnected. For the first time in these areas, the Serbs managed to fight for their centuries-old hearths and to ensure that they would never again be expelled from them – Banjac said.
He stated that through the force of high representatives, certain embassies, and parts of the international community, there were attempts to change the Constitution and strip it of its original strength.
– We succeeded in preserving what that Constitution represented, and what it still represents today – the security of life for the Serb people and the security of the survival of Republika Srpska, because Srpska and the Constitution are one fabric that guarantees the freedom of our people in these areas – Banjac emphasized.
The first Constitution of Republika Srpska was proclaimed on February 28, 1992, and is one of the most important constitutive acts that formed the basis for the creation of Srpska.
